Q: How will remote tutoring work?

I will use my iPad as a whiteboard and share my screen so you can follow along and ask questions. I will use Zoom to facilitate the session. The process to sign up for a session remains the same. You’ll use the scheduling tool to sign up for times. You will still receive text message confirmations and reminders. The Zoom meeting link will be posted in my Google Classroom.

Q: What is Google Classroom?

Google Classroom is a tool for teachers to organize classwork, make announcements, provide feedback, etc. I’ve chosen to use this program for several reasons. The first page in Google Classroom is a “stream” where students and I can make posts to the class. This will work kind of like a classroom discussion board, but, with significantly fewer people. Students text me questions all the time (which is fine) but this way it can benefit everyone and people won’t be texting the same questions over and over. We’ll also have a “class” drive where I will upload resources to be used during private sessions (rather than emailing it to everyone).

Students will fill out a google forms document before every session. It’s just so I know what chapters you’d like to focus on and if you have any specific questions. You’ll also upload any classwork you’d like to go over to the Google Form. This will be an “assignment” in Google Classroom.

Q: How do I join Google Classroom?

I will send you an invite to join after you sign up for your first session of the semester. Please use your Gmail account, if possible, when scheduling appointments.

Q: Can I still pay you on Venmo?

Yes! You can still pay me on Venmo before or after our session. Credit cards are also an option.

Q: Is our session recorded?

All sessions will be recorded and made available to the student afterward.

Q: Why did you increase your rate?

I increased my hourly rate for several reasons. One of the biggest factors was increased technology costs to teach remotely. This makes it more expensive for me to tutor. I’ve put in several additional hours implementing solutions to make sessions reliable, productive, and personable.
